Puli
Is it a living floor mop? Or a Rastafarian sheep? No, it's a Puli. A charming, humorous, and versatile dog breed.
You can not write anything about this breed without commenting on its unique appearance.
The long coat might look different to any dog you have seen before, but do not be fooled. Under the woolly coat, there is a diligent, intelligent, and friendly medium-sized dog weighing about 10-15 kilos.
Versatile shepherd and working dog
The Puli originates from Hungary and derives from Persian and Asian bush dogs.
They have long traditions as hard-working farm dogs. The Puli most commonly herded grazing animals or guarded properties, which makes for a vocalizing dog breed. Even though they are not aggressive towards strangers, they will alert their owners when someone arrives.
Distinct herd animal
Puli is a pleasant, faithful, and friendly breed perfect as a family dog. But they must be granted an outlet for their energy. The breed is known for forging strong bonds with its owners, including their children. The Puli does not enjoy solidarity.
They need to keep their flock gathered at all times. You can safely say that they are herd animals, which depend on having people around them.
They are active dogs with a lot of energy, so be sure to go for daily walks.
A Puli who spends too much time indoors can develop destructive behavior.
The Puli is also excellent at agility.
Puli does not shed
The purpose of their unique coat is protection from high and low temperatures. It also protects them from sheep predators.
Some allergy sufferers report that they react less to the Puli as opposed to other breeds. Nevertheless, it is important to know that there is no scientific evidence to call them allergy-friendly dogs.
The Puli is generally healthy
The Puli is a generally healthy breed. Some individuals may suffer from hip dysplasia, but this rarely occurs.
If you are going to purchase a Puli, you should be prepared to have it in your life for many years.
