«Lildog helps to ensure good dog keeping»
I think the most important thing about Lildog is the element of safety associated with dog keeping, says dog trainer Hanne Trøan.
Lildog ensures better dog keeping.
"I think the most important thing about Lildog is the element of safety linked to dog ownership", dog trainer Hanne Trøan says. She explains "that she gets sick to her stomach when she reads about people who have lost their dog, who may have been looking for it for weeks, and who may never get an answer."
Such incidents can happen even to the best dog owner. If that happens, it is reassuring to be able to limit the time the dog spends alone by as much as possible, Hanne explains.

Long experience with own dog center
Hanne has over 10 years' experience with professional dog training and running her own dog centre. She has solid expertise in the field of dogs with 4 different instructors educated within advanced specialist fields.
In addition, she has competed with her own dogs in top class rally obedience, top class IGP, class 3 in obedience and several Norwegian championships for Belgian shepherds. It was therefore with great excitement for all of us at Lildog that Hanne wanted to contribute to the development of the unit.
“I am a technical person with an interest in everything to do with dogs. When I heard how Lildog was going to use technology to better understand and take care of our dogs, I just had to join the team", the dog trainer says.
Lildog is more than just a location

"There are many elements that are interesting to follow in the Lildog app.
"With the pedometer, you can see the dog's activity level. Here you can, for example, discover if the dog moves a lot when it is alone at home, which can indicate stress or separation challenges”.
“You can also measure how many more steps the dog takes when it is allowed to run freely compared to when it is on a leash. It may provide some interesting information which may be good to take into account during the enforced leash period, for example”, Hanne continues.
The built in Lildog-thermometer can also be an important tool, and an extra measure of safety - especially if you are traveling with a dog. If you have your dog in a car, even with good ventilation, big differences can quickly arise between what temperature you think it is in the car, and what temperature it actually is. And it can quickly develop into becoming critical for the dog”, she explains enthusiastically.
In such a situation it can be crucial to pull up the phone to see exactly what temperature it is where the dog is staying for safety's sake. Making arrangements so that the dog is not exposed to extreme cold or heat is a primary need for a dog," says the dog trainer.
“The more control we can have over such situations by constantly being able to monitor this, the greater the probability we have of being able to prevent, and thus avoid critical situations”.
Will be involved in the development of new features.

"In the long term, it is very exciting if Lildog can make humans understand dogs even better than we do today," says Trøan. When the device starts to collect data about the dog's behavior and movements, we can interpret changes in behavior and see it in relation to health problems and unwanted behaviour.
"It is not necessarily always that easy to interpret the dog's behavior yourself, and I am convinced that most people want our dogs to be as healthy as possible",Trøan says before continuing,
"If technology can help us pick up behavioral changes that indicate illness, discomfort or pain in the dog, then we can ensure that the necessary measures are taken before it's too late".
