Remote monitoring of the health of the dog is the future.

Five years ago, veterinarian and founder of Vetlabs, Jo Amundstad, began to have a growing interest in movement pattern and movement recognition in animals. He started experimenting with how to use technology to record behavior change and the development of disease in animals. "I wanted to see if it was possible to register changes in animal behavior to detect various symptoms of disease at the earliest possible stage." I was absolutely sure that this was possible, but did not have the time and resources to start such an extensive project myself, 'explains Amundstad.

When I heard about Lildog and how Lildog should similarly detect and recognize typical dog health problems, I showed this is the future. I contacted Lildog because I have many years of experience as a veterinarian with a special interest in the subject.

Lildog can mean a lot to dogs' health in the future

As a veterinarian, Amundstad has experienced that when an owner finally suspects that their pet is suffering and decides to take them to a clinic, it is already almost too late.

I have worked for many years in a clinic with dogs and cats, and it is very common to see illness or injuries that have developed over a long period of time. Often in a busy day, it is not easy to notice changes in the behavior of their animal that may indicate that something is wrong. An example might be an increased desire to drink.

If there are many in the family who go to refill water for the dog, then no one thinks that it is refilled often, and then this can last for a long time. And if the increased desire to drink is due to illness, it is often the case that the longer it takes, the worse the problem becomes.

So being able to discover such a simple thing as increased desire to drink in the early stages will be able to prevent diseases from developing. Therefore, the work that Lildog does now is very important and can make a big difference to dogs' health in the future.

Will contribute with clinical knowledge and data

Now that Lildog has launched its first tracking device, the time ahead will go to optimizing the basic functions such as location, history, temperature and activity measurements. Where the next phase will focus on new features to detect behavioral changes that will detect typical health problems in dogs. In this phase, such expertise as Jo has will be of great value to Lildog.
